Spring Happenings!
Spring is bringing some exciting theater events for me, and
I’d love it if you’d join me for one or all:
- Sunday, May 5 at 3 pm. Wellfleet Harbor Actors Theater (WHAT) is
presenting a workshop reading of my full length play, MERIDIAN SUMMER. This is a play dear to my heart, and I’m very
excited to be working with WHAT’s actors and director to revise the play and
bring new life to it. The play takes
place in Meridian, Mississippi, my mother’s hometown, where, in 1964, the
murders of civil rights workers James Chaney, Michael Schwerner, and Andrew
Goodman were planned by people determined to “preserve our way of life.” We’ll be working on the play on Friday and
Saturday, and invite you to join us for the free reading on Sunday afternoon.
- Friday and Saturday, April 26/27 at 7:30 pm and
Sunday, April 28 at 3 pm. Provincetown
Dramatic Arts is presenting a collection of short plays by women for their
Women’s International Theater Festival.
My play, “La Emergencia (The Emergency)”, was created for the 2019 24
Hour Festival and is being reprised by the terrific cast from that production. Hint: I wrote the play the day T***p declared
the “emergency” at the Mexican/US border.
Performances take place at the WOMR Davis Space, 494 Commercial Street
in Provincetown. Tickets for the
production are $15 and will be available at the door.
- Saturday, April 27, 10 am – noon. The Blue Institute is sponsoring a collection
of writing workshops, “Words on Water,” as part of ArtWeek and the institute’s
commitment to excellence in water education and research. I’ll be teaching one on writing the short
play. So, if you’ve ever wanted to write
a play, please join us at the Harwich Cultural Center, School House Drive, 204 Sisson Road. To register, go
